The Montreal Chinese Community and Cultural Centre A Short Guide

In early 2003, the Board of Directors of the MCCUC Chinese Community and Cultural began to negotiate with the three levels of Canadian goverment for the funding of construction of the Montreal Chinese Community and Cultural Center.

On March 2nd 2004 the excecutive Commite of the City of Montreal, headed by Mayor Gerald Tremblay, approved a 3.84 million dolar grant towards the construction of the Cultural Center. In 2005 the Federal and Provincial goverments provides additional grants totalizing 2.33 million dollars.

Through fundrising efforts another 700.000 dollars was raised from local community. These funds ensured the success for building this Cultural Center.

Under the leadership of Presiden Jun K. Wong, the Board of Directors of the Montreal Chinese Community and CUltural Center worked tirelessly making this project a reality. The construction began on Juli 1st 2004 and the Grand Opening was held on November 12th 2005
